Why did Jesus have to fulfill the law?
In order to transmute it into a higher Law.....the Law of Love!......the same way that Light swallows darkness. The law is not abolished, but transmuted. The law was a revelation of God that possessed prophetic meaning.
John 5:46 For if you believed in and relied on Moses, you would believe in and rely on Me, for he wrote about me personally.
When that which is perfect is come (the Law of Love and Liberty - Christ Jesus) then that which is in part (that which only pointed to the reality), the Law of Death must give way to the higher law.
The dispensation of death was inaugurated with glory and splendor but because it was only an external law engraved on stone it was without the power to change its hearers.
So God brought the fulfillment of the Law (Himself) as the Son. The dispensation of the Spirit , the Law of Love as an internal Law written on hearts which supersedes and is attended with MUCH GREATER AND MORE SPLENDID GLORY.
2 Cor.3:7-9
The dispensation of death - "this mortal must put on
The dispensation of the Spirit - immortality"
"then shall be brought to pass the saying, Death is swallowed up in victory."
